Help us change the way people think about mobile phones. The Windows Phone Design team is redefining the mobile phone for millions of everyday users around the world. We are looking for an intuitive and driven Design Program Manager to drive the process of the design of phone experiences which start with mobile devices. The ideal candidate for this position has experience in Program Management and a passion for creative thinking. They will have demonstrated strength delivering through all stages of product development from initial ideation to shipping and supporting multiple generations of the final product.
The candidate will be responsible for researching, creating, developing, refining, and documenting innovative and compelling user experience solutions that meet the business and design goals and objectives. This person will also drive design schedule and design process of both near and long term products. Strategic thinking and creativity will be critical to innovating compelling user experiences. The candidate will need to communicate through a living multimedia design brief, pulling together a single story being developed by the entire design team. The Design PM will work closely with interaction and visual designers, industrial designers, user researchers, marketers, software engineers and hardware engineers in a highly collaborative environment. This position requires the candidate to be organized, detail-oriented and results-driven. Passion for our customers and for consumers who want great user experiences is highly desired.
Qualifications
5 - 7 years of experience in program management for high-quality consumer electronic products
Strong project management, communication and presentation skills
Experience shipping products spanning multiple platforms
A portfolio demonstrating breadth and creativity in related fields
Intrinsic passion for seamless hardware/software integration
Strong interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and design skills
Additional, hands-on experience in a secondary field such as industrial design, mechanical engineering, software engineering, etc. is highly desired as is experience in the field of human-computer interaction.
Education requirements include either an MA/MS in interface design, industrial design or highly related field, OR a BA/BS in interaction, industrial design with significant industry experience.
