If you?re interested in getting yourself a Samsung Galaxy Nexus, you better get one while you can, because today a judge has granted Apple an injunction against the Google flagship smartphone in the US.
According to a report from Reuters, Judge Lucy Koh granted Apple a preliminary injunction against the Samsung handset citing Patent No. 8,086,604?which covers Siri voice commands and unified search functionality.?Dan Levine, who both tweeted and confirmed the ruling has indicated that Apple would need to post roughly $96 million in order for the injunction to go into effect.
Apple provided a statement to The Verge regarding the ruling:
It?s no coincidence that Samsung?s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging. This kind of blatant copying is wrong and, as we?ve said many times before, we need to protect Apple?s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas.
Samsung and Google have yet to release a statement, but we?ll keep you updated on the latest.
